Celebrate the joyful and colorful Indian festival of Holi that ushers in Spring. Sapna Punjabi-Gupta, our Indian cultural ambassador, culinary wellness expert, and coordinator of this event, has devised a delightful menu that offers a modern take on some traditional street food dishes. So dress in your brightest colors and enjoy building your own bowl of bhel; a live action jalebi bar; and sipping on spiced (non-alcoholic) springtime beverages. The stage will be set with a playlist of Bollywood tunes and the opportunity to have your hands painted with henna; a photo op with a vibrantly colored background; and to create a small bouquet of brilliantly colored flowers to take with you, along with other family friendly surprises.
Children 5 -17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Chaat stations include:
Tikki Tots Chaats: loaded Tater Tots with Warm White Cannellini Beans; Curry; Chutneys; & Crunchy Sev
Build A Bhel Bowl: Puffed Rice; Veggies; Chutneys; & more
Jalebi Station: Warm Deep-Fried Batter soaked in a Sweet Syrup, cooked a la minute, topped with your choice of ice cream & other garnishes
Sapna was so wonderful to learn from! She is easygoing, kind, and patient. I actually felt as though I had known her for years because of her welcoming nature. I'm extremely grateful to her for sharing her passion and love for cooking and for sharing the art of making dosa. Excited to take more classes in the future.
Join me for an in-person guided Indian grocery tour in the Valley Ranch area in Dallas Metroplex.
I would love to share my secrets, simple tips as we go through my favorite ingredients and brands and help you build your pantry with vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free items. We will walk together various aisles of a local Indian Grocery Store and my goal will be to make you feel comfortable to shop independently for your spices, lentils, and other ethnic food items to make it part of your regular grocery shopping.
We will begin with a scrumptious lunch buffet at a nearby Indian restaurant. I will go over a brief discussion about how to stock your pantry with Indian ingredients and review the packet with useful sheets that you can use when you grocery shop the next time.
Registration includes lunch, a packet of information and sample grocery list, a reusable shopping bag, and a fun time doing groceries together.
