Citrus Power Juice | Fights Cold and Flu | Vitamin C

When life surrounds you with cold and flu,it is time to rethink your diet and lifestyle choices. Are you making the best choices to PREVENT and build a strong immune system prior the cold and flu season when sniffles try to take over? With so many people falling sick this year, it is so very important to pay attention to our daily choices... food, lifestyle, sleep and exercise. A strong immune system will help us stay strong and fight illness. 

Living in sync with seasons and following nature's order is critical to staying well, we can start by paying closer attention to our daily choices to help us stay strong and prevent illness or properly fight it if it comes to close. 


Citrus has natural properties that aid in the prevention of colds and flu and also offer much needed Vitamin C, antioxidants, vitamins and more! There are also some citrus choices that are best for their respective seasons.

So when you are at the grocery store this week, load up on some citrus and enjoy this simple drink.



  • 1 grapefruit

  • 1 lemon

  • 1 orange

Using a high quality juicer, squeeze citrus juice from grapefruit, orange and lemon into a glass. Stir and add roasted cumin seed powder atop of the drink to promote gut health and add a grounding flavor. 

Serving size 1 - 8 ounces


Other tips to help you stay well this season include:

  1. Warm salt water gargles in the morning.

  2. Spoonful of my Spiced Honey Throat Coat as a preventative measure - there is a YouTube video on my channel. Go watch it. Spoonful in the morning. 

  3. Cooking fresh meals as much as possible. High prana foods have higher energy. 

  4. Limiting cheese and dairy content especially for kids to moderate amounts in the kapha months. If using cheese...always sprinkle black pepper to reduce kapha or phlegm production. Learn more about foods recommended for the Taste of Winter, the kapha month.

  5. Nasya oil in our nostrils at bed-time. 

And, it is a no brainer in our home, but NO cold water and absolutely NO ice ever.
