My mom, daughter and I have enjoyed three classes and now this is a Sunday ritual that we will continue. The Fall Soups class was amazing as we prepared not one, or two but three different soups with very different flavors. It feels great too to be doing something good for your body that is truly satisfying. Samosas are one of the most popular Indian snacks enjoyed all over the world. Traditionally, these triangular shaped stuffed flaky pastry is deep-fried and requires patience and time to make.

 

Let Sapna show you a fun and delicious way to transform the traditional samosa into a baked pie. In this online Indian cooking class, you will learn how to make a masala (spiced) savory pie crust from scratch along with a traditional potato and peas filling. While your pie is in the oven, Sapna will guide you step-by-step how to make an authentic cup of masala chai and will show you how to customize it based on the season and time of the day. And finally, she will teach you a quick and super delicious apple cilantro chutney to go with the samosa pie!

The Pumpkin Sambhar is perfectly balanced with the warming spices and fall tastes and packed with plant powered protein. The Cranberry Salsa is a burst of flavor while the Nutty Pumpkin Burfi is decadent and disappears from the table as quickly as it is prepared.

Chaat is popular Indian street food that is burst of flavors combining sweet and savory, crispy and soft flavors. Chaat dishes are usually smaller portions and often served as appetizer and finger foods in parties and gatherings. They are incomplete without the use of chutneys and a various spice combinations.

This Indian online cooking class will feature a popular chaat dish called Ragda Pattice in Mumbai, India. The Aloo Tikki is a spiced potato patty that is served with Ragda Peas Curry cooked to buttery soft texture and garnished with two kinds of chutneys - the classic mint and cilantro chutney and tamarind chutney.

I am so happy! I managed to find a spot at Sapna’s cooking classes - they usually fill up quickly (home sessions) But with offering zoom sessions I was able to finally join and learn. Khichidi is a staple dish in every Indian home. Although it has gained some popularity in the west, there are so many misunderstandings about this nourishing meal.

 

In this online Indian cooking class, Sapna will show you how to cook a perfectly spiced khichidi and discuss ayurvedic insights about how to cook this dish right and will share tips on how to change the ingredients seasonally. While the khichidi is cooking, you will cook alongside Sapna to make a yummy Instant Carrot Achaar or Pickle. You can enjoy it right away or allow it to ferment for a few days. You will end the class with a by cooking a delicious dessert – Rose Almond Halwa. The ingredients are not only decadent but also the combination is created with ayurvedic mindfulness.

We really enjoyed our virtual cooking class with Sapna. The food was delicious! The recipes are easy to follow and accessible for those of us relatively new to Indian cooking. We have learned so much about spices and Indian ingredients that we never used before. Most of all, we really like Sapna. She does a great job of explaining everything. She gives great cooking tips, but also talks about the nutrition and benefits of the various ingredients, the importance of food for our physical and mental health and in our social lives. It is very easy to spend a couple of hours with Sapna - like hanging out with a friend. We always come away with a happy tummy and a big smile!

Grocery list, equipment and tools needed for the class will be sent upon registration.

 

The online classes are designed keeping in mind ingredients are simple and possibly already in your pantry or easy to find. 

 

Spices are an integral part of every class.Substitution and optional choices will be provided in the grocery list and also in each recipe.
